I am trained as an Analytic Counsellor. Although the focus of counselling is more likely to address specific areas, I am trained to work over the longer term and at greater depth if necessary. The counselling I do is not only directed toward the problems you present, but also toward exploring what processes and feelings are causing the problems, I try to understand what might be underneath the words you are saying. Such as:

  • Are you experiencing problems in your relationship with your partner, family members or friends?
  • Having difficulties adjusting to the loss of someone you cared for through separation, divorce or bereavement?
  • Suffer from low self esteem or lack of self confidence?
  • Have you experienced a trauma?
  • Are you disillusioned with your life or under constant stress in your work or personal life?

The feelings that arise from experiencing these life situations can be upsetting and painful. You may have little or no opportunity to talk to anyone about your problems. Whatever your personal circumstances I will listen to your concerns, support you at this time of pain and suffering, and work with you in order to begin to understand and work through the problems.
Therapy can be hard work for both client and counsellor. Sometimes you may feel worse before you feel better. There is no quick fix but the results of a committed effort can be surprising and always rewarding.
